Medik8 first appeared on my radar thanks to a google search for solutions to redness. With sensitive skin and a tendency to flush (aka- full beetroot face when I get hot) I had been on the hunt for anti-redness skincare that actually worked.
I couldn’t decide what was the most exciting but the combination of all of these products had me quite dizzy with excitement. Instead of slapping them all on willy nilly I decided to actually read and follow the instructions. Which is kind of important when starting a new skin care regime.
Let’s take a look at each product.
The Red Alert Cleanse is a foaming cleanser but it is less ‘sudsy’ than the other foam cleansers I have used. It doesn’t give me that tight, squeaky feeling of other harsh cleansers which is really good for my sensitive skin. I use one pump with the clarisonic and it does an amazing job. My skin feels soft and clean but still hydrated.
The Red Alert Serum goes on before my moisturiser and so far I am loving it. It’s light and absorbs quickly so I don’t need to wait long between products. It has a slight soothing effect especially after a hot shower when my cheeks can be quite red. (And no I can’t give up the hot showers, even though I know I should).
Lucky I followed the instructions on the Retinol serum as there are a few warnings about using this product. Direct sunlight should be avoided (which is why I have been using it at night) and it needs to be introduced slowly. I started using it twice a week to begin with and am now using it every two days. This has made a huge difference to my skin. It is brighter, clearer and my make up is sliding on like a dream since introducing Retinol to my skincare arsenal.
Redness Corrector is my daily moisturiser and it is living up to its name! It has green mineral pigments which help to reduce the redness in my skin and conceal broken capillaries that appear on my cheeks. As a life long green concealer lover I was so happy to find a product that had the disguising power of green combined with the lightness of a moisturiser. This product has taken the place of BB cream for me. I no longer use BB or tinted moisturiser after applying this I swish my face with a light dusting of mineral powder and I am ready for the day. Big WIN for anyone who suffers from redness or irritation.
Hydra* Night Eye Cream is the final piece in my face puzzle and as a true lazy girl I keep it on my bedside table so I can jump into bed and dab it onto my eyes before drifting off to the dulcet tones of hubby’s snoring. (No wonder I am showing signs of age – I need a good old sleep!)
My skin is feeling brighter and healthier but best of all is the reduction of redness. I have always been conscious of my skin redness and tried hard to cover it up but with these products I don’t need to cover as much. The upside of better looking skin is that less makeup is required to look my best each day.
